HAND BLOCK PRINTING
is a millennia-old craft. Beautiful, traditional ornaments are first carved by hand into wooden stamps.
These stamps are then used to hand-print large, beautiful patterns onto the textiles.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT IT:
• random inequalities make each piece unique.
• Sometimes the stamp is positioned slightly differently, sometimes the color application is stronger or weaker.
• A small overlap or a small splash of color add to the charm of this technique.
hand screen printing
is a traditional printing technique. A separate screen is made for each individual printing color. On long tables with lengths of fabric, the individual colors are passed through the screen one after the other, meter by meter, and applied to the fabric. As soon as one color has dried, another color can be printed using the next screen.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT IT:
Screen printing allows for a very high ink application and particularly bright colors. The random inequalities that arise during handmade production make each piece unique.
pigment coloring
Pigment dyeing is done using the finest insoluble particles. These particles are obtained from inorganic (minerals) or organic (plant) pigments. The scarves and shawls are dipped into the dye as a whole piece.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT IT:
The color is absorbed irregularly by the “washing” and the typical broken texture with light and darker areas is created.
This is how we achieve this beautiful, casual look, which always turns out a little different from piece to piece with its color shades!
